Henry (Hank) Phelps − Mr. Phelps is a senior staff engineer in Lockheed Martin Aeronautics’ (LM Aero) Materials & Processes organization. He has over 41 years of experience with advanced aerospace materials and fabrication processes including casting, forging and additive manufacturing of titanium, aluminum and nickel based alloys.
Mr. Phelps was previously the Additive Manufacturing lead in LM Aero’s Manufacturing Technology organization, Principal Investigator for advanced metallic CRAD and IRAD projects in the Advanced Development Programs (aka Skunk Works) organization as well as the acting M&P department manager and lead metallurgist on the F-22 program.
Prior to coming to LM, Mr. Phelps worked for the Aerospace Division of Hercules Incorporated, where his projects included leading the fabrication of the graphite/epoxy optical bench for the High-Resolution Spectrograph that flew on the Hubble Space Telescope.
EDUCATION: Mr. Phelps has master’s degrees in Engineering Management and Materials Science as well as a bachelor’s degree in Physics.
